Research Fellow Tom Petrocelli has just published his latest report on the state of the Kubernetes market, entitled: The Keys to Increasing Kubernetes Adoption.
This report describes challenges to adoption as Kubernetes is fast becoming the next generation enterprise IT platform. Adoption will be much more difficult if issues such as complexity, transitions from traditional architectures, and Java resource requirements are not addressed. For IT professionals, it’s important to consider these problems when planning for new container, microservices, and Kubernetes based platforms.
While Kubernetes continues to evolve, more progress needs to be made on transitioning existing enterprise platforms, especially Java-based platforms, to Kubernetes and managing the complexity of highly distributed systems. It is best for IT to plan and budget for these problems as part of the move to Kubernetes platforms. It is also important for the open-source community to begin to tackle these problems before it adversely affects Kubernetes adoption.
“There is little to stop the march forward of Kubernetes, microservices, and containers. Their capabilities meet modern Agile development practices and business needs the best.” – Tom Petrocelli
